Either Dr. Collier will begin by cleaning the decayed area before rinsing it out and filling it using a composite resin, which will be matched to your natural tooth color using a shade guide. Our team will apply it to the enamel of your tooth and carefully sculpt and shape it to blend in with the rest of your smile. Finally, we will use a specialized light to harden the resin into place, giving your tooth the seal it needs to protect against harmful bacteria.

TOOTH-COLORED CROWNS

If a filling won’t suffice in caring for your damaged tooth, it’s likely we will need to place a dental crown over the tooth to protect it. We will do this by first cleaning out the decayed or damaged area of the tooth before filling it and shaping it. It is necessary to “prep” the tooth to ensure the crown will properly fit over the natural tooth. Next, we will take an impression of your tooth and send it to dental lab technicians, who will design and create your custom restoration, matching the color, size and shape. Once it is finished, you will return for a second and final appointment to have it cemented into place.
