Digital Impressions – Goodyear, AZ

An Easier Method to Capturing Dental Data

When it comes to staying on the cutting-edge, digital impressions have much to offer patients of Desert Vista Dental West. Not only does this technology make it easy to capture accurate data of teeth, but it improves the overall treatment experience for everyone involved. No longer do patients need to bite into the gray putty that’s been the standard method for obtaining an accurate model. If you are in need of a dental crown or other customized dental product at our office, don’t hesitate to request an appointment and experience the difference for yourself!

How Do Digital Impressions Work?

Our practices offers CEREC, a system that allows us to design and fabricate dental crowns entirely in the office. To create these highly-customized restorations, we use a digital impression system to capture detailed images of your teeth. To do this, we use an intraoral wand that’s attached to the CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacture) system. During the scan, we can confirm which areas have been fully captured and which areas need additional attention to collect data. The capture process only takes a few minutes to complete, saving you time and giving our office additional opportunities to make fine-tune adjustments as needed.

After capturing necessary data, Dr. Joy Collier examines the 3D model in more detail on the chairside monitor. Here, she can manipulate it to ensure that no mistakes are present before sending the data to the CAD/CAM system. This allows for a more accurate restoration (or series of clear aligners if you’re pursuing Invisalign® treatment) to be made.

The Benefits of Digital Impressions

A dental crown.

Like many walks of life, going digital makes rudimentary tasks much easier for both the patient and the dentists at the practice. Digital impressions make the office more efficient, productive and allow for more accurate dental devices to be made. As a result of these improvements, patients can expect the following benefits via our digital impression system:

  • Less time needed in the dental chair
  • More accurate restorations, clear aligners and whitening trays
  • No need for goopy impression material
  • A more comfortable dental care experience
  • Lower user error
  • A more interactive treatment experience
  • Quick turnaround time (and therefore faster treatment)
  • A greener office environment overall
  • Less waste (i.e. failed impression attempts using putty material)

Are you in need of a new dental crown because of a damaged tooth? Curious about straightening your teeth via Invisalign? With the help of digital impressions, the process for both treatments just got a whole lot easier. Contact our office today to learn about this technological breakthrough in dentistry!
